    Dear colleagues,
Last November we created diecreoltaal.wordpress.com about the US Virgin Islands Dutch related Creole language Negerhollands. It contains as much information as possible about subjects concerning this language, like our database of historical Negerhollands Creole texts (a manual is available) and a large bibliography of texts in or about this language.
Next to that we present links to other historical databases, for example of the so called Dutch Sailing Letters, from the periode 1600-1800, which were found in the archives in Kew Gardens, London. In one of these letters the first known sentence of the mysterious Skepi-language was found, another one contains an eighteenth century Papiamentu love poem. These letters are also interesting because of the historical content: for instance one short letter is about the first group of colonists who wait on St. Eustatius to colonize St. Thomas.
I hope the website can be of any help, especially with its links to sources which may be hard to find outside of the Netherlands.
Please, roam around, your comments are, of course, very welcome!
    Kind Regards,
Cefas van Rossem, Languages in Contact, Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands
